Hassle 一词词源不详，有认为20世纪初期源自英语单词 hustle （忙碌喧嚣），也有认为可能源自英语单词 hazel （榛树）的变体 hatchel （用针排梳理；使麻烦、使痛苦、折磨）。自1945年起， hassle 主要用来作名词表示“困难、麻烦、问题”，多指一种令人讨厌的局面，涉及到做一些困难或复杂的事情，并且需要付出很大的努力，既可以做可数名词，也可以做不可数名词，
