Acquaint 是一个与小站（微信公众号：田间小站）推送过的quaint同根的单词，两者都源自于拉丁语cognoscere（开始熟知）。其中 acquaint 最早于13世纪初经古法语acointer（使为人所知；结识或寻求结识）进入英语后，起初用来表示“使自己为人所知”，不过这个含义现已过时。等到了14世纪初后， acquaint 开始常用搭配 be/get/become acquainted with sb 表示“认识、结识某人”，强调直接或本人认识，
比如：
