Annex 一词源自拉丁语annecetere（绑定到），14世纪末经古法语annexer（加入、附加）进入英语后，先是用来表示“附加、添加、附带”，常搭配介词 to 表示把某物作为额外的或从属的部分附加或添加到更早、更大或更重要的事物上，尤其是加到某个文档中，

比如：

annex a clause to a contract在合同上附加一项条款

Happiness is not always annexed to wealth.财富未必能增添幸福。

annex privileges to the peerage给贵族以附带的特权

从这个概念出发，到了15世纪后， annex 开始引申发展出现在的常用含义指用武力或擅自“强占、吞并”国家、地区等，也就是强行将一个额外的地理区域纳某个国家、地区等的范围，与小站（微信公众号：田间小站）推送过的cede相对，

比如：

Germany annexed Austria in 1938.1938年德国吞并了奥地利。

进而 annex 也被用来表示“（为自己）得到、获得”或者说“把……强行占为己有”，比如：包揽各个奖项

She did not like to see him annexed by another woman.她不愿意看到他被另一个女人夺去。

an annex to the will用作名词时， annex 则相应表示“附加物、附件、附录”以及在建筑领域表示“附属建筑物、添加的建筑物”，比如：遗嘱的附件
