Reiterate 一词源自拉丁语reiterare（重复）的过去分词reiteratus，15世纪初进入英语后原用在医药或化学领域表示“一次又一次地重复”某个行为或过程。等到了16世纪中期后， reiterate 开始发展出现在的主要含义指“反复地说、重申”，常作正式用语使用，主要指为了强调或明确而重复或多次说某件之前已经说过的事，经常意味着态度坚决，但有时候也会产生令人厌烦的（wearying）效果，
